Step 1: Islamabad to Mansehra (The Gateway)
Islamabad serves as the ideal starting base for northern road trips.
- By Car: Take the Hazara Motorway (M-15) directly to Mansehra. It is a smooth 103 km drive that takes about 1.5 to 2 hours with minimal traffic.
- By Bike: Motorcycles are not allowed on the motorway. Bikers must take the traditional GT Road Route: Islamabad → Taxila → Haripur → Havelian → Abbottabad → Mansehra. Expect heavy traffic, trucks, and a travel time of 2.5 to 3 hours.
